A new weekly bus service linking Tomintoul and Grantown-on-Spey is to be put in place for a six month trial period.

The new addition to Moray Council’s ‘Dial a Bus’ service was approved on Tuesday by the economic development and infrastructure services committee.

Dial-a-bus operates successful services throughout the region and it is now hoped the new service will prove popular enough to survive beyond the six month trial period.

Councillors were told that currently there is no public transport link between Tomintoul and Grantown, and if successful the potential exists not only to retain the service but to extend it to Aberlour.

Such a move, councillors were told, would seek to attract visitors from Aviemore to Grantown and Moray.
