An award-winning author and broadcaster is set to journey north as the keynote speak to a Moray conference promoting the value of the third sector to the region.
Lesley Riddoch has agreed to speak at the ‘Join the Dots’ conference, organised by tsiMoray and taking place later this month in Elgin Town Hall.
The annual conference will feature a range of workshops covering topics such as ensuring groups are fit for funding and the management of volunteers, as well as learning more about the community empowerment bill that is currently passing through the Scottish Parliament.
tsiMoray’s Chief Officer, Fabio Villani, said: “We are very excited to have Lesley come to speak at the event.
“She is a champion of community empowerment and we know she will provide additional inspiration for our already vibrant voluntary organisations and social enterprises.”
The conference will also hold sessions that seek to show how to best use Social Media, and provide information on opportunities being made available through Government programmes such as self-directed support and developing Scotland’s young workforce.
In addition there will the opportunity for participants to choose who gets a share of a funding pot of more than £20,000 – the ‘Canny wi’ Cash’ programme recently attracted 67 applicants, and awards will be allocated by participants through “participatory budgeting”.
Mr Villani added: “Our vibrant third sector makes a huge contribution to Moray, both socially and financially.
