Major search for missing Speyside woman ends in tragedy


A major search for a missing Craigellachie woman ended in tragedy on Tuesday when a body was recovered.

Police have said that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of 61-year-old Alexandra Milne, who had last been seen at her Leslie Terrace home on Monday at around 10pm.

An extensive search was launched on Tuesday morning involving dozens of police officers in and around Craigellachie. A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “After receiving the call alerting us to the missing person we instigated search operations at about 6.20am.

“Nearly every available Moray unit on the early shift was deployed to help with the search, we also used two sniffer dogs and called in an underwater search unit and air support from the ARCC at Kinloss to assist us.”

The spokeswoman added that around 30 police officers were involved in the search which was called off on Monday afternoon when a body was found.

A statement read: “Police Scotland can confirm that sadly a body has been found. Formal identification is yet to take place, however the family of Alexandra Milne have been notified.”
