A KEITH FARMER was left stunned this week when he learned that his charity fundraising efforts had managed to provide an £11,000 boost to Cancer Research.
Ian McDonald organised a 24-hour charity plough in February with the aim of raising around £4000 – however, when the funds were finally totted up they revealed almost three times that amount had been raised.
Ian, from Grange in Keith, roped in friends and family to help him in his fundraising bid – and they were the first to be thanked by the big-hearted farmer who said: “I would like to thank everyone who helped make the event a success – and to everyone who donated money.
“We have been planning the event for a while but I could never imagine that we would raise so much – we had some tough times through the night with the weather, but just had to keep going.”
Cancer Research UK’s north-east fundraising manager Fiona Harvey said they were “blown away” by the success of the event: “It’s such a great challenge to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.”
