Moray vandalism spree continues as Cullen playcentre is hit

Vandals struck once again in Moray at the weekend and left behind a trail of destruction and despair at a pre-school play garden.

The Cullen Play Centre was the latest target for mindless destruction discovered by cleaning staff who arrived on Sunday to find flower pots created by nursery pupils had been smashed.

Ground around the centre was littered with dirt and broken glass while an attempt had been made to break into a shed.

It is just the latest in a series of similar attacks reported throughout Moray that is causing increasing concern for communities. Play centre manager Joanne Wood said that in Cullen there had recently been some vandalism – but nothing to the extent of the latest attack.

Local councillor Ron Shepherd described the attack on a charity for young kids as “just disgusting”, adding: “Cullen is a great, quiet place to live and is full of good people.

“I hope the terrible behaviour of a few does not taint the positive reputation of the village and its community.”

A police spokeswoman said that the vandalism had been noted by local officers and inquiries into the attack are ongoing.
