POLICE ARE SEEKING information on a car that was stolen and set alight while a house was broken into on Elgin’s Sandstone Drive in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The white Seat Ibiza was removed from outside a home on the Grange development and later set on fire and abandoned outside Greenwards Primary School.
Officers have also reported that there was a second attempted housebreaking at a property still under construction in the same area, while information is being sought on a scooter that was taken from Castlehill Street in the early hours of the morning.
The incidents prompted an appeal and warning from local policing officer Laura Begg, who said: “These crimes happened overnight and I would appeal to anyone in the area who may have any information to contact Police Scotland.
“I would also like to remind local residents not to take any chances with their security. Keep your vehicles locked and your homes secure, even when you are inside.
“Keep your valuables out of sight and remember that a simple act such as keeping your car keys out of easy reach of your door can be vital. This will remove any easy chances for thieves.”
Anyone with information on any of the crimes is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
