DEFINING THE LEARNING needs and aspirations for Moray is the theme of a community event taking place in Elgin next week.

The Moray Community Planning Partnership and tsiMoray are behind the event at the Elgin Youth Café where they hope to hear the views of individuals and community groups that would help shape a community learning and development plan for the next three years.

Fabio Villani, the chief officer at tsiMoray, said that the event will help pull together all strands of community learning and development and help inform the drafting of the forthcoming plan, adding: “We want to hear from people so we can identify, map and address the community learning needs and aspirations, as we week to enrich and improve life chances for Moray citizens.”

The event on Wednesday, July 1 will focus of four primary themes – Early Years, Youth Work, Adult Learners and Community Capacity Building. Mr Villani said: “For clarity, the purpose of Community Learning and Development (CLD) is to empower people, individually and collectively, to make positive changes in their lives and in their communities through learning.

Mr Villani said: “CLD’s specific focus should be to improve life chances for people of all ages, leading to stronger and more resilient, supportive, influential and inclusive communities.”

The leader of Moray Council, Stewart Cree, will open the event at 10am and it will run through until 3pm. Booking is essential for the free event and should be made using an online booking form.
