THOUSANDS TURNED OUT in the sunshine at Lossiemouth on Saturday for the second annual Seafest – the culmination of a week-long festival that has showcased the charms of the Moray coastal town.
Organisers were delighted at both the weather and the turnout – with not only local people taking in an event that has quickly grown in importance, as visitors came from throughout the north east to take enjoy the ‘Jewel’ in all its glory.
From pop music to pipe bands, kickboxing demonstrations to masterclass food creation the festival has something for every age and taste.
“We were delighted with the weather after a week where it seemed to be touch and go for us on that front,” local councillor and Seafest committee member John Cowe said, adding: “It was fantastic to see so many people supporting not only the food fayre and fun day but all the events throughout the week.”
Seafest chair Donna Milne added: “We could not have wished for a better response from local people or the many visitors to Lossiemouth who turned out on Saturday.
“Most of all I would thank the background team without home the event could never have been possible, all the individuals, groups, businesses and organisations who also supported our annual festival – but above all the people who made Station Park sparkle.”
Visitor Calum Craig learned about Seafest only when he read about it on Saturday morning on insideMoray. He said: “We had just been discussing over breakfast what we should do and had planned to drive over to Moray.
“We checked the internet to see what was on and it looked like fun – we’re so glad we did, what a fantastic day out. The kids loved the train rides and the Morayvia aircraft exhibits, but they were in raptures when they got to sit in a real fire engine.
“For my part I’m just glad the wife will be driving home – after discovering the Windswept Brewery tent I found my own version of heaven.”
