POLICE IN MORAY are calling on help from the public after an incident outside an Elgin primary school where a man tried to coax a young girl into his car.
The incident happened at St Sylvester’s Primary School on Abbey Street at around 8.55am on Thursday as youngsters arrived for school.
Police say that a stranger approached the girl and asked if she wanted a lift – an offer the youngster wisely declined. The man then drove off and is believed to have gone in the direction of Glover Street.
While there is no description of the man involved his car was described as being “small and black” and had tinted windows.
Investigating the incident is PC Brian Donaldson, who said: “At this time there is nothing to suggest that anything untoward has happened here, however, we would like to trace the man who was driving this car so we can rule him out.”
Anyone who may have information about the car or the driver or who perhaps saw anything suspicious is asked to contact police on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
