AN AUDIENCE WILL be drifting back in time when an evening of swing music classics are performed in a Moray town next week.

The RAF Lossiemouth Voluntary Band have put together a concert that they hope will see people flying through the doors and helping to raise funds for two air force organisations.

Formed in 1971 to provide musical support and opportunities for RAF personnel serving at both Kinloss and Lossiemouth, the band had been based for many years at RAF Kinloss before moving over to Lossiemouth on the withdrawal of the RAF from the former Nimrod base.

As the only RAF voluntary band in Scotland their music is heard on bases throughout the country – but community support is also an important role for the band who regularly perform in village halls and churches around Moray and beyond.

Their next concert coincides with celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and will take place in the Lossiemouth Town Hall on Tuesday, September 29 from 7.30pm.

Proceeds from the concert – for which tickets are available prices at £7 and £5 for concessions – will go to the RAF Benevolent Fund and the RAF Association.

Tickets are available at the door on the evening of the performance.
