Course aims to show way for walk leaders in Moray

Speyside Way
A FREE COURSE designed to help those who wish to volunteer as ‘walk leaders’ in their local community is being provided by Moray Council’s sports development section.

Designed for over-18’s, the course will help those who are aiming to assist one of the many existing walking groups in the region.

There are currently active groups in Dufftown, Lossiemouth, Buckie, Rothes, Elgin and Forres that are helping many people remain active and to socialise. They have also been of great help to people who are under rehabilitation following illness.

Kim Paterson, the sports development officer at Moray Council, said: “Health walks are a great opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to get more active using their local environment.

“They are also a great rehabilitation opportunity for people who may have had some recent medical condition or illness.”

The training course is to be held at the Elgin Community Centre from 9.30am until 4pm on Saturday, October 3.

For further information and to register for the course, contact the sports development section on 01343 563657 or email to educationandsocialcare@moray.gov.uk
