Motorists escape unhurt from two-car crash near Elgin

A VAUXHALL ASTRA car ended up on its side after a two-vehicle accident on the outskirts of Elgin on Monday morning.

Traffic on the B9103 route between Myreside and Coleburn was halted when the silver car was involved in a crash with a red Fiat Punto at around 8.30am.

Fire crews were called but fortunately both drivers involved managed to escape uninjured. The road remained open throughout the incident with police on hand to direct traffic safely through the area.

Police confirmed that the accident involved just the two cars and that the southbound carriageway had been blocked, adding that while an ambulance was in attendance it was not required.

Meanwhile a fire crew was also in action in Elgin a few hours later at the entry to the Pinefield Industrial Estate on the A96 when a car belonging to C and R Taxis had caught fire.

The Taxi burst into flames at around 11.40am and was quickly extinguished.
