A LINGERING DISPUTE led to a Keith man appearing in court on Thursday facing charges of assault in a local pub.
Elgin Sheriff Court was told that Gary Willox threw a beer bottle at Angela Green in the Commercial Hotel in the town on September 2.
There had been some ill-feeling between the pair, with Procurator Fiscal Kevin Corrins explaining that the accused’s son and Ms Green’s daughter were in a relationship. The accused, Mr Corrins explained, made comments including referring to Ms Green as “evil” and threw a drink over her.
Willox, 50 and from Dunnyduff Road, then picked up a Budweiser bottle from the bar and threw it, hitting Ms Green on the head.
In Willox’s defence solicitor Liam McAllister was his client was ashamed of his actions saying that Willox was the first to admit that “a grown man should not behave in this way”, adding that since the incident his client had taken steps to address a drink problem.
Willox will reappear at the court on November 19 for sentencing after social work reports are prepared.
