A MAJOR LAND, sea and air search was under way last night for what was described as a “high risk” teenager who had gone missing in Moray.
Helicopter and lifeboat crews were searching the coastline around Lossiemouth harbour in search of what is understood to be a 15-year-old male.
Coastguard teams from Lossiemouth and Burghead were also assisting in the operation alongside the search and rescue helicopter from Inverness, while three coastguard vehicles joined the search which began shortly after 9pm.
An Aberdeen Coastguard spokesman said: “We were asked by police to assist with the operation at 9.12pm. Buckie Lifeboat has been sent and land-based coastguard teams at Lossiemouth and Burghead ae assisting.”
Police added that they were searching for a “high risk missing person”, adding that the use of lifeboats was a standard procedure in such circumstances.
Update: We understand the youth has been found safe and well.
