TWO MEN SUFFERED injuries in separate road accidents that caused morning chaos around Elgin on Tuesday.
The A96 through the city was closed for around four hours after a cyclist suffered head injuries after colliding with a car on the roundabout directly outside Dr Gray’s Hospital.
Emergency services were alerted at around 10am with staff from the hospital first on the scene to treat the stricken cyclist, who was later described as having suffered serious but not life-threating injuries.
For four hours after the accident the busy main route remained closed while investigations were under way into the cause of the crash, which also involved a black Vauxhall Astra. Diversions were put in place at Wittet Drive and the roundabout near the post office collection depot.
Earlier at 6.30am the main A941 into Elgin from Lossiemouth was closed briefly when a car crashed leaving its driver requiring treatment at Dr Gray’s – he was later reported not to have suffered serious injury and the road was reopened before the main rush hour.
