THE FUNDRAISING EFFORTS of a group of servicemen and women at RAF Lossiemouth has been recognised by the Rotary Club of Elgin.

The base Support Wing team ‘Air Max’ took part in the Diageo Marafun in Elgin during the summer – and between them raised the highest sum in sponsorship than any other group in their category.

Consisting of Wing Commander Chantal Baker, Andy Wonnacott, Flight Sergeant Ally Campbell and SACW’s Gina Stroyan and Lucy Currie, the team were recently presented with an award for their efforts by the Rotary Club.

Team captain Andy Wonnacott spoke for the team when he said: “All of the team are keen runners and took part in the Marafun for the challenge as well as to raise some money.

“I’d like to thank the Rotary Club of Elgin for the award. We raised almost £300 and hope that we will be able to raise even more in the next Marafun in 2017.”

The team competed in the relay race in the Emergency Services category, the trophy donated previously by the former Grampian Fire Brigade will now remain in the RAF Lossiemouth gym until the next Marafun.
