A FIELD OF 177 runners took to the streets of Lossiemouth for the annual ‘Turkey Trot’ 10-mile road race on Sunday.
Organised by Moray Road Runners, the popular pre-Christmas event was won by Knockando athlete Kenny Wilson who ran a personal best time of 52.50 in finishing clear of the field.
It was very much a case of determination and grit for Kenny, who after finishing third in 2012 came second in 2013 and 2014 – so knew he had to dig out that little bit extra to take the podium.
“The time was one minute faster than by previous best,” he said, adding: “I was delighted with the outcome. I was on my own after the first half mile but that never bothered me – I prefer it that way and I could concentrate on keeping to the split times I had set for myself.
“I have been in the top three every other time I’ve ran the race to it is good to finally get the win.”
Kenny revealed that the win is just what was required to set him up for his next challenge: “I wanted to do well at this distance as I’m thinking about stepping up to try a couple of half marathons next year and this boosts my confidence.”
Second place went to Fraserburgh veteran Keith Buchan in 57.08 while Paul Miller from Inverness Harriers finished third in 57.27.
