MOTORISTS ARE BEING warned of severe overnight weather in Moray with plummeting temperatures and snowfalls expected.
A severe weather warning has been issue by the Met Office for Moray and parts of Aberdeenshire, with sleet and snow moving in overnight.
The heaviest snowfalls are expected in higher areas such as Tomintoul, with the conditions expected to continue into the morning making travel to work difficult for many in the region.
“Wintry showers will continue later this afternoon and overnight into Monday,” a Met Office spokesman said, adding: “To start with showers will fall as sleet and snow above 200m with temporary accumulations at lower levels along the coastal areas.
“Snow levels will rise overnight however, with some drifting snow expected in strong westerly winds – ice will also be a hazard on untreated surfaces even at lower levels.”
