A 14-YEAR-OLD WAS among several people arrested when police conducted drug raids on properties in Buckie and Elgin on Thursday.

Around £3700 in cash was recovered by officers from one property which is believed to have been obtained through the sale of drugs.

The surprise raids involving 30 police officers began shortly after 9.30am when a battering ram was used to enter premises at Findhorn Court in Elgin. Another home on Bezack Street in Elgin was also raided as was an address in Buckie.

Following the raids police reported that a 30-year-old man, 14-year-old boy and two women aged 48 and 53 from Elgin have been charged and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in relation to possession of controlled drugs following drug search warrants being executed.

The warrants were executed by members of North East Division’s Organised Crime Investigation Team and officers from community policing teams.

Detective Constable Kyle MacKinnon of the North East Division’s Organised Crime Investigation Team said: “Today’s action is a direct result of members of the public coming forward with information.

“Police Scotland will continue to take action to tackle the issues local communities highlight as a concern and would encourage people with information about drug activity and organised crime to come forward.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
