HAVING ALREADY TAKEN on two of the most popular musical productions ever to hit the UK stage – Grease and West Side Story – a Moray theatre company are embarking on yet another massive show.

Footloose the Musical is currently rocking audiences around the UK starring Gareth Gates and Maureen Nolan. The St Giles’ Theatre Group might not boast such big stars in their Elgin production – but given their past efforts nobody will suffer disappointment.

The 1984 movie from which the stage production is based epitomised that decade – but the stage production has not lost itself in the past, with the updated musical managing to capture the essential excitement that carries the show into any era.

While the new professional tour will arrive in Aberdeen for a week in June, Moray theatre fans can enjoy the hard work of local performers who have been working on their production since last September.

The show will undergo a four-day run from April 20 to 23 and is being produced by Lindsay Knight, who told insideMoray: “This is the first time St Giles’ Theatre Group have performed Footloose. It’s a real ‘feel good’ musical, with a number of well known songs.

“Our cast are really looking forward to getting on stage and can’t wait to see the audience on their feet joining in!”

Director Emma Woolnough added: “Our cast and crew have been working hard for six months to pull this amazing, energetic and foot stomping production together.

“All we need now is an audience, our young cast are ready to entertain and show you how much talent we have in Moray. Get your tickets fast, this show is sure to be a sell out!”

Tickets go on sale from March 12 during a coffee morning at Williamson Hall and thereafter at the box office at St Giles Church (opposite WH Smith) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 12noon and Tuesday and Saturday from 12noon until 2pm.
