DETAILS OF THE eight-day visit by the Moderator of the Church of Scotland to Moray have been released by the local presbytery.

Soldiers, airmen, street pastors, lifeboat crewmen, fish curers, care home staff, counsellors and staff at biscuit, sweater and whisky makers are included in one of the most comprehensive tours undertaken by a Moderator.

The Right Rev Dr Angus Morrison will begin his tour in Fochabers on Saturday before moving on to preach at services in the Dallas and Bellie churches on Sunday. He will then spend most of the day on Monday in Buckie before moving on to Speyside on Tuesday where he will visit several local businesses.

A visit to Forres on Wednesday will include a call to the Army at Kinloss Barracks, while RAF Lossiemouth is on his schedule the following day as is New Elgin Primary school.

On Saturday, May 7 the Moderator will join street pastors in Elgin while the following day he will preach at Findochty in the morning and St James’ in Lossiemouth in the evening.

Dr Morrison, who will be accompanied by his wife Marion throughout the tour, said he was “greatly looking forward” to what will be his fourth and final Presbytery visit before he stands down next month.

He said: “It will be a privilege and delight to spend time with colleagues there and to visit congregations as they bear witness by word and action in their communities to the Good News of God’s love revealed in Jesus.

“I am very grateful for all the effort that has gone into preparing a full and fascinating programme.”
