THE IMPORTANCE OF Volunteers in all walks of Moray life are once again being recognised in a series of events being held over the first two weeks in June.

tsiMoray say that their ‘Volunteers Week’ this year will be a little longer than normal – reflecting the overall theme of a ‘big celebration’ of the vital work undertaken by the region’s army of willing volunteers.

The opening week will include a Recruitment Marketplace at St Giles Church in Elgin on Saturday, June 4 from 11am. A tsiMoray spokeswoman said: “This is the chance for individuals to tell people about their work and volunteer roles.

“In addition it is also a celebration – so we are encouraging people to bring some of their fellow volunteers, after all who better to tell people about volunteering than actual volunteers.”

Anyone wishing to book a stall at the event is being asked to email tsiMoray via susan@tsimoray.org.uk.

Nominations have also been opened for the annual ‘Moray Volunteer Awards’, with names being accepted for the honour now on the tsiMoray website, while individual ‘Volunteer Stories’ are also being sought.

The spokeswoman added: “We want to know why people volunteer, how they got started – and how it has impacted their own life.”
