A YOUNG BOY was rushed to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin on Sunday following a serious accident on the A96 just east of Forres.
The 12-year-old was a passenger on a motorbike ridden by his father when it was involved in a collision with a car and caravan under tow yards from the Forres Enterprise Park roundabout.
Police Scotland say the road was still closed late into the evening following the accident, which happened at around 11.55am.
Later in the evening the boy was airlifted for specialist treatment to Edinburgh, a Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman saying: “An aircraft was used to transfer the boy to Edinburgh to receive specialist care, he remains in a serious condition.”
A police spokesman said: “A 51-year-old man and 12-year-old boy were rider and pillion passenger on the motorcycle and both were taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin.
“The 12-year-old boy sustained serious injuries and the man suffered minor injuries. The A96 is currently closed while investigations take place at the scene.”
