MYSTERY SURROUNDS SEVERAL footballs removed from Elgin City’s Bough Briggs stadium at some point in the last week.
Club officials discovered that several official match balls supplied by the SPFL have gone missing – and are politely asking for them back!
In a statement released on social media yesterday, a club spokeswoman said: “Information is sought regarding yellow SPFL match footballs that have been removed from a container within Elgin City Football Club, Borough Briggs, Elgin.
“The balls were taken between Thursday the 28th April and Thursday the 5th May. They are yellow in colour with distinctive SPFL markings and would be easily recognised if used in any other games.
“Any information received will be treated in the strictest confidence.”
It is not known if Elgin require the return of the balls in time for their crunch League 2 promotion play-off match against Clyde this weekend. City trail 3-1 from the first leg at Broadwood earlier this week.
Anyone with information on the missing balls is being asked to contact Kate at 01343 551114.
