Assault on Forres High Street has prompted appeal for witnesses.

AN ASSAULT ON Forres High Street has prompted an appeal for witnesses from local police.

A 50-year-old man was injured as a result of the attack on Friday, May 26 at around 1am as he was trying to flag down a Taxi.

Police say that a number of men, the exact number are unknown, carried out the assault – causing injuries to their victims face and arms.

PC Gemma MacRae said: “Although the injuries are not life changing or threatening, the victim was still required to spend the night in hospital, and it goes without saying the great deal of distress it caused.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area on the night in question and saw anything to contact Police as soon as possible. No matter how insignificant you may think the information is, it could help with our investigation.

“Anyone with information should contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers to remain anonymous on 0800 555111.”
