MORAY BASED GROUPS and organisations are being encouraged to get bids in for a new £575,000 slice of Big Lottery funding.
The new ‘Celebrate’ programme has been launched to fund activities that bring people together in celebration of something in their local history – or a local ‘community hero’.
Big Lottery will also be looking for ideas that mark something important in the community or simply activities that bring people to a positon where they can get to know their neighbours better.
Applications for funding of between £500 and £5000 are being offered for projects.
Moray’s MP Angus Robertson said: “I am delighted that the Big Lottery Fund have launched their new Celebrate programme, which aims to bring people together to celebrate their local communities.
“The new funding programme is an excellent way to bring people together and celebrate their local community. The programme is particularly looking for applications for projects which are carrying out intergenerational activity or activity which demonstrates communities coming together to share their diverse cultures.
“This is an excellent opportunity for funding for groups here in Moray, and I would encourage local organisations to apply for some of the £575,000 which is available.”
