ONE OF THE most successful and proactive organisations for young people in Moray has been successful in a bid for £50,000.
The Elgin Youth Café project will receive the funding from the Young Start Scheme operated by the Big Lottery Fund.
Elgin Youth Development Group, who operated the Café, will use the funding for a range of activities that support mental and physical health.
Welcoming the news and promoting a motion in the Scottish Parliament that congratulates the Elgin Youth Development Group on their work in Moray was Tory MSP for Highlands and Moray, Douglas Ross.
He said: “This is fantastic news for Elgin Youth Development Group and I know the award of almost £50,000 will be directed to helping those who need the support most.
“I understand that this award will help fund a range of activities supporting both mental and physical health, with the activities designed by young people for young people.
“The Elgin Youth Café is a project which continues to go from strength to strength – and I welcome the opportunities this funding will allow in providing access to social and recreational activities for those who perhaps have felt isolated in the past and will go some way to help remove some of the stigma of mental health.”
