TAKING TO THE WATER via River Cruising is one of the fastest growing holiday activities in Europe – now a Moray travel agency is hosting an event where people can learn why that is the case.

Beaver Travel in Elgin is the venue next month for a river cruising information session where experts will be on hand to explain just what is involved – and those attending will be given the opportunity to snap up a discount.

Aimee Morgan, who is the assistant manager at Beaver Travel, said: “It is an opportunity for people in Moray to learn more about this exciting holiday option.

“We have a guest speaker from two of the UK’s leading river cruise lines, Scenic and Emerald Waterways, who will outline just why river cruising has become so popular both in the UK and throughout Europe.”

River cruises travel along many of the major rivers in the world. In Europe, the Danube River is second in length only to the Volga River in Russia – and the Danube is one of the most popular rivers to cruise along.

The Main, Rhine, Moselle, Elbe, Rhone, Saone and Seine are also popular rivers in Europe for river cruising.

Elsewhere in the world, the Amazon River in Peru and Brazil, the Nile River in Egypt, the Yangtze River in China and the Mekong River in Vietnam and Cambodia are also popular river cruise destinations.

Emerald Waterways will mark 2017 with the launch of three new river cruise ships – Emerald Radiance will make its inaugural voyage on Portugal’s Douro, Emerald Liberte is set to sail France’s Rhone and Emerald Destiny will cruise the Danube, Rhine and Main through central Europe.

Spaces at the Beaver Travel event on Thursday, October 6 at 6.30pm are limited so people are asked to reserve places in advance by calling 01343 548844 or by email to elgin@beavtrav.com.
