COMMUNITY GROUPS ARE working together in Forres next week to allow over-60’s the chance to drop in for a cup of tea – and learn more about local services being offered specifically for them.

Health and Social Care Moray, tsiMoray and the Forres Area Community Trust are being the vintage tea and community wellbeing event in the Forres Town Hall on Thursday, October 6 at 2.15pm.

The new information event allows older people in Forres to have the chance to browse community stands that showcase those activities available that will help keep them active, healthy and independent.

While they are there they can also have a blether about we people in and around Forres work together, ensuring it remains an inclusive place to live independent and well from their own homes as long as possible.

Area public health coordinator is Ann Griffin, who said: “There are lots of community groups for older people in Forres, but it’s trying to ensure that everyone is aware of what there is, and that they have the ways and means to get there.

“We hope that this event connects people to groups and resources that can help keep them fit and well, but also connects them to people who can help them stay connected and independent in their community for as long as they are able.”

The event will be sponsored by Forres Tesco’s Community Champion, providing a cuppa and a fancy piece to ensure that everyone has fun and enjoys this event. It is the second of three pilot events being held in Moray to connect older people with local community groups.
