Update: One dead and two injured in Moray road accident

A woman in her 90's was taken to hospital.
Three casualties on the A98 close to the Findochty junction.

ONE MAN HAS died following a fatal accident on the A98 near the Findochty junction at Cullen earlier today.

Police have said that the two vehicles were involved in a collision at around 11.30am at which Fire and Rescue Service, ambulance and the Helimed air ambulance attended.

A 77-year-old male suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision while the driver and passenger of the other vehicle involved have been taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital for treatment.  Next of kin have been informed.

The road is closed to allow collision investigation to take place and is anticipated it will be closed for some time.  Local diversions are in place.

Sergeant Malcolm Kinross, Road Policing Unit, North East Division said: “First of all, I would say that our thoughts are with the friends and family of everyone involved with this tragic incident.

“I would appeal for anyone who was aware of a silver Renault Megane or blue Rover 75, around 1130 am today on the A98 between Buckie and Cullen to contact the Police on 101.”
