EIGHT MORAY SOCIAL ENTERPRISE businesses are teaming up this weekend in creating a pre-Christmas pop-up market place in Elgin.

The St Giles Shopping Centre will be the venue for the market on Saturday (November 26) from 9am until 5pm for an event that is linked to the towns Christmas Lights switch-on.

Organised by Elgin BID, the market will showcase promotional material and gifts – something for everyone, with all profits going back to supporting the region’s thriving social enterprise sector.

Kim Siu, tsiMORAY’s social enterprise development officer, said of the event: “Social enterprises make profit for purpose and add extra value to our local economy.

“This event will give people the chance to buy locally and see what good work is being done in their community. Social Enterprises make a difference to people, communities, the environment and the local economy.

“They provide fair and meaningful employment and often offer supported volunteer placements, training and work experience.”

The organisations taking part in the pop-up market will be REAP, Reboot, Caledonia Ice Skating Club, Earthtime, In Stiches, Morayvia, Sniffy Wiffy and Gypsy Traveller Support Moray.
