A MORAY STORE is gearing up for one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken in the centre of Elgin – the Elgin Ice Festival.

The city centre looks set to be a hive of activity when the festival launches on December 17 – and helping to make it all possible for the Caledonia Skating Club is a leading community partner, Specsavers Elgin.

The temporary ice rink will be open to people of all ages to enjoy but can also be booked for private events and lessons. Caledonia Skating Club will also host professional skating displays for all the family to watch in wonder this Christmas.

Peter Taylor, store director of Specsavers in Elgin, said: “We are always keen to show our support to local groups and events in the community – an outdoor ice rink in Elgin for families to enjoy as well as professional skating displays will be a fantastic edition to Moray’s Christmas offering and we are delighted to be a sponsor.

“We will have our very own Specsavers pod at the festival where people can check in their frames for a glasses MOT. We will tighten frames and clean lenses free of charge to help skaters and spectators alike see clearly. If you miss us at the pod why not visit the team in store, we are always happy to help.

“We are proud to support Elgin Ice Festival and hope to see lots of familiar faces out on the rink!”
