POLICE ARE APPEALING for information as another incident of metal screws and tacks being placed in a New Elgin road pose a danger to local residents.

The screws were left on Robertson Drive and caused damage to vehicles in what was a repeat of similar incidents in the same area in 2015.

That led to what was believed to have been copy-cat attacks of a similar nature in Lossiemouth.

In the latest incident on Tuesday a number of vehicle tyres were damaged, with the total cost being estimated by police at a high three-figure sum.

Investigating the latest incident is PC Brian Donaldson, who said: “This incident has left a number of people with the inconvenience and cost of replacing tyres, and it was a hazard to road users in the area.

“If any person has had their vehicles damaged or has any knowledge on who carried out this offence, I would ask them to contact the Police on 101.”

Local councillor Graham Leadbitter said: “Whoever is responsible needs to stop this childish and disgraceful criminal behaviour and take a long hard look at themselves. It is ridiculous.

“If you’re in or around Robertson Drive and Anderson Drive keep an eye out for suspicious behaviour and if you see any such behaviour please report it to the police and help get the culprit caught.”
