Drop in session to discuss changes to Elgin rail link

Opportunity to discuss planned changes to Elgin Station.

WORKS ON THE main Aberdeen to Inverness line through Moray will be the subject of discussions at a special community drop-in tomorrow.

Network Rail and their contractor BAM Nuttall say that construction works adjacent to the line at Elgin will begin later this month.

Work is already under way in Forres where new track and a new station are being created, progress on that having already been inspected by regional MSP Douglas Ross last week – a part of the project that alone is costing over £35million.

Now the rail infrastructure body is keen that local communities are clear on what work is being carried out on the Elgin section of the line, a spokesman saying: “Ahead of the work in Elgin we will be holding a community drop-in event on Thursday from 4pm until 7pm.

“Anyone can come along to this, meet with the project team and ask any questions about what we are doing, how and when we are doing it.”

The drop-in is being held at the Elgin Sports and Community Centre on Trinity Road. Anyone unable to attend and who has questions to ask can do so by contacting the community relations helpline on 03457 114141 or by Email to aberdeeninverness@networkrail.co.uk.
