FOUR PEOPLE HAVE appeared in court facing drugs charges following a significant find after a tip-off from members of the public.

Cannabis and Valium with a street value of around £20,000 was recovered when a warrant was executed on premises in the Anderson Drive area of Elgin on Thursday – around £5000 in cash was also recovered.

On Friday Bryan Sutherland, 49 and John McCormick, 49, both from Glasgow, appeared in court alongside Kay Hastings, 49 and David Arthur, 30, both from Elgin. All four made no plea in the private hearing.

Ahead of the court appearance Detective Sergeant Andy Wilson said: “I would like to thank the members of the public who assisted with this particular inquiry.

“There is no place for drugs in our communities and North East Division works extremely hard to make the region as safe as possible and ensure it is a hostile environment for such crime.
