
ONE PERSON HAS DIED in a fire earlier this evening at a property on the Elgin Road in Lossiemouth.
Fire and Rescue Service crews joined Police and Ambulance Service at 4.10pm when they received a report that a house was on fire.
Fire personnel successfully extinguished the blaze on the A941 – the road was closed between Inchbroom Road and Coulardbank Road.
A police spokeswoman said: “Sadly, there was one fatality – no other persons were injured. From an initial enquiry it appears that there were no suspicious circumstances.
“Police officers will remain at the address overnight and a joint fire investigation will take place on Thursday.
“The identity of the deceased will not be released until next of kin are aware and formal identification has taken place.”
