A MORAY HOTEL is being used to highlight how high savings can be made from their utility bills just by shopping around for the most efficient tariffs.
The Ugie House Hotel in Keith have followed a path that more and more domestic users have taken – and the result is a saving of over £16,000 in the last year at the ten-room hotel and 50-seat restaurant and bar.
Encouraging other local businesses to follow suit is June McKay from Ugie House, who said: “The savings we made were phenomenal. It was unbelievable that by switching tariffs, we could reduce our bills so dramatically.
“As a business, we are always looking to improve our offering and bring more people to the venue to enjoy a night away, a lovely meal or a great function. Having this extra resource allowed us to redirect funds into refurbishing some of our rooms.
“I would encourage other businesses to ensure they are not paying too much for their energy bills. Roddie at JPR Energy worked hard to get us on the correct tariff and made the process very simple.”
The Hotel used the services of JPR Energy, one of several firms that reviews tariffs and contracts each year, identifying savings for their clients.
Roddie Barclay from JPR Energy said: “There is a common misconception that switching energy suppliers is a hassle that will ultimately reap little award.
“This could not be further from the truth. Our clients are regularly bowled over by the amount we have managed to save them.
“At the end of the day, the product is the same. Electricity, gas and water do the same job, no matter what a business is paying for them. We work closely with our clients, taking on the legwork of any switch and using our expertise and contacts to get the best deals.
“We are delighted to have saved Ugie House Hotel this significant amount and to hear the difference that has made to their business.”
