A DATE HAS been set for the Moray Council by-election for the Elgin City North ward brought about by the surprise resignation of Cllr Sandy Cooper.
Councillor Cooper quit just four days after being elected – under the rules the vacancy must be filled with a by-election taking place inside three months.
Today the election officer announced that the election will be held on Thursday, July 13.
Nominations from those wishing to contest the single place available will open on Friday, May 26 and close at 4pm on Monday, June 12.
The count, which will be carried out manually, will take place at Elgin Town Hall on Friday, July 14.
