Disruption for six months for A96 works through Forres

DISRUPTION FOR MOTORISTS along the A96 through Forres is being warned as a result of additional works on the new rail network and station at Forres.

Under a previously agreed arrangement Network Rail has undertaken to construct new footways along the A96.  To achieve that, contractor BAM Nuttall has said they will require nine phases of traffic management along the busy route over the coming months.

The first phase is due to begin on Monday, June 5 with the final phase ending on November 19.

A Network Rail spokesman said: “Advance warning Variable Message Signs will be placed on the A96 displaying a two week countdown to the start of road works. A temporary speed limit of 30mph will be in force throughout the phases of work.

“The traffic management plan has been approved by Bear Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland.

“Traffic updates will be available at https://trafficscotland.org/ throughout the duration of the works and local radio stations will also advise of any traffic issues.”

Anyone with questions regarding the works is being asked to send an Email to aberdeeninverness@networkrail.co.uk or call the Network Rail Helpline on 03457 114141.
