A RECRUITMENT CAMPAIGN has been launched by Moray Council to add to their pool of Foster Carers in the region.
Foster Care Fortnight, running through until May 21 and the UK’s largest awareness raising event for foster caring, will be used to highlight the recruitment effort.
The theme for this year’s campaign is ‘Foster care transforms lives’ and reinforces the message that foster carers come from all walks of life.
Fostering social worker at Moray Council is Leanne Andrews, who said: “We assess applicants regardless of whether you own your own home, are unemployed or retired, have children or not, of whether you are in a relationship.
“We continue to provide ongoing support and training to foster carers once they are approved.
“There are so many reasons why a child could come into foster care and they can stay for one night to several months or, in some cases, they may remain permanently in foster care throughout their childhood. Young people can also remain cared for once they are 16 and over.”
Anyone who would like to find out more about becoming a foster carer can visit the Moray Council website at www.moray.gov.uk or call 01343 563568. Alternatively they can e-mail fostering&adoption@moray.gov.uk
