A BLAZE IN the early hours of Sunday morning almost completely destroyed a home close to the coastal village of Portgordon.
Fire, Ambulance and Police were rushed to Bin View Terrace to the south of the village on the main A990 Buckie to Fochabers road at around 4.30am.
By the time two Fire and Rescue crews arrived at the scene the fire had already taken a firm hold – but within an hour they had managed to bring the flames under control. Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured as a result of the fire.
A spokeswoman for the Fire and Rescue Service said on Sunday: “We were called at 4.24am to a fire at a dwelling – the fire was on the ground floor of the 32ft by 16ft house.
“We used breathing apparatus, a hose-reel jet and a jet to extinguish the fire. Police and Ambulance also attended with the stop message coming in at 5.30am – there were no injuries.”
Fire crews remained on site for several more hours to ensure the blaze had been properly dampened down.
