First Moray Council meeting lasts just three minutes

MORAY COUNCIL FORMALLY opened – and adjourned inside three minutes this morning for the first meeting of the Full Council.

No agreement has been reached in the formation of an Administration despite intensive talks over the last week between the rival groups.

Council officer Mark Palmer read out the names of those who were elected earlier this month, further explaining that he understood more time was needed, asking for a proposer and seconder that the Council be adjourned for one week – the meeting now taking place on Wednesday, May 24.

The status of the negotiations remains deadlocked with nine SNP and eight Conservative councillors still, it is understood, refusing to discuss a joint approach. Of the eight Independent councillors, one has resigned while two have made it clear they will not join in any Administration.
