Teenage Rampage pair in court after causing £40k damage

TWO TEENAGERS HAVE admitting leaving a trail of destruction in their wake with damage estimated at £40,000.

The pair appeared at Elgin Sheriff Court on Thursday where they admitted being behind raids on an Elgin building site and school in December.

Both cannot be named for legal reasons but the 16-year-olds admitted stealing a mechanical digger owned by Billy Miller at a building site on Hamilton Gardens on December 14. They drove the digger around the site, crashing it through fencing, damaging underground drains and electrical cabling.

The two also admitted raiding Elgin Academy five days earlier, stealing £100 and other items from the school caretakers’ office.

Their activities sparked a wide appeal for assistance from the public by police which eventually led to their being brought before the court. Both will now reappear next month for sentencing after social work reports are taken into account.
