A MORAY COLLEGE student has emerged on top following a trade competition held in Dundee recently.
Russell Scott is a third year SVQ plumbing apprentice and was competing in the Scottish & Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers Federation ‘SkillPLUMB’ competition at Dundee and Angus College.
The competition is an annual skills test designed to promote standards throughout the plumbing industry – developing competence into excellence. Apprentices from throughout Scotland were in competition over two days, taking part in challenges including leadwork and copper pipework exercises.
Russell represented Moray College UHI and excelled in the competition winning first place in both challenges.
On the day Russel had support from his family who travelled from Aberchirder for the competition and his employer, Mark Hay of Portsoy, who also won the competition several years ago.
Jim Mackinnon, Curriculum Leader for the SVQ in Plumbing, Moray College UHI, was delighted with Russell’s performance and was very impressed with the amount of preparation he put in on the run up to the competition.
