A BRAZILIAN WOMAN has become the latest victim of Moray’s roads when she was tragically killed in an accident near Tomintoul last night.

Police confirmed that the 69-year-old woman was a pillion passenger on a BMW1200 GS motorcycle involved in a collision with a Nissan Navara on the A939 Lecht to Tomintoul road.

The accident happened at 5.35pm on Wednesday evening – the family of the victim have been informed.

Police say that the rider of the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he is receiving treatment.

Following the tragic accident road policing sergeant Rob Warnock said his thoughts and those of his officers were very much with the family and friends of the woman who had been killed.

He added: “Several people witnessed this incident and I am acutely aware that they, and others who assisted at the scene, have also been affected by the tragic circumstances.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the crash or who may have seen either vehicle shortly beforehand and who hasn’t yet spoken with Police to do so to help us piece together exactly what happened.”
