MORAY’S BUSIEST ROAD was once again gridlocked on Friday following an accident involving two cars on the outskirts of Elgin.
Fortunately there were no serious injuries reported after a silver Volkswagen Golf collided with a red Ford Fiesta on the A96.
The road was reduced to a single carriageway as police conducted their investigations into the cause of the smash which left both vehicles severely damaged. The police vehicles attended alongside an Ambulance which had been called out as a precaution.
Reports from the scene indicated that both drivers managed to walk away unaided from their vehicles following the crash at Barmuckity Street in Elgin. A police spokeswoman said that the driver has suffered only ‘very minor’ injuries.
She said: “Police were called to the area at 12.10pm following a two-car collision on Barmuckity Street at the A96 just outside Elgin. Both drivers have been able to get out with very minor injuries – nothing serious.”
The police spokeswoman added: “The eastbound carriageway was blocked following the collision and caused congestion.”
