ONE OF THE MOST anticipated and colourful annual shows in Moray takes place next week when local growers will show of their flowers and produce in Lossiemouth.
Once again Lossiemouth High School will be the venue for the annual Flower and Produce Show which takes place on September 16 from 1pm.
Pride of place this year will be a number of 30th birthday cards each created by 2nd Lossiemouth Rainbows to celebrate 30 years of Rainbows – and raise money for the ‘Post Pals’ charity, which provides gifts for seriously ill children and their siblings.
After being displayed at the show, the cards will be sent to Rainbows groups across the UK and as far afield as the Falkland Islands.
Card-making is only one of over 250 classes of entry from flowers and vegetables to jams and chutneys and handiwork including knitting, crocheting and card-making, with special prizes for Lossiemouth residents, senior citizens and children.
Frances Reddy, Secretary of the Lossiemouth Flower Show Society, said: “The Flower Show is such a lovely tradition and such a wonderful spectacle.
“I am delighted that the 2nd Lossiemouth Rainbows are taking part and look forward to seeing the cards on display and hopefully the Rainbows themselves and their families on the day. We extend a warm welcome to everyone to come along and admire the flowers, marvel at the vegetables and delight at the craftwork and then of course join us for tea and cake.”
Rachel Thompson of 2nd Lossiemouth Rainbows added: “It’s wonderful to be able to have the Lossiemouth Rainbows involved with the Flower show and have their handiwork on display in the town for all to admire.”
Admission to the show is £1 with teas and cakes available from 2pm until 4pm, the prizegiving will take place at 2.30pm.
