Flooding and landslips cause problems around Moray

ROAD CLOSURES LOOK likely in Moray today as high water levels continue to cause concerns in particular on the A98 at Cullen Bay.

Moray Council staff have been deployed to help clear surface water and close roads where required while sandbags are now available for public collection at the Buckie Depot on Cunningholes Road.

Any council tenants concerned about an immediate and serious risk to their property from flooding should call our Contact Centre on 0300 123 4566.

A spokesman said: “We’re working with partner agencies including the Met Office and Police Scotland to address flooding risks across the area. The weather is expected to improve around noon and we expect to see water levels recede shortly after.”

insideMORAY reader Elaine Wilson sent in these pics saying: “Bad flooding between Cullen and Portknockie and Portknockie to Findochty. There is a landslide at cliffs down to Portknockie harbour, firemen digging the earth off the road as a campervan trying to get up the road. Severe floods also by Hillhead cemetery.”
