Metal thieves get away with 10-tonnes of steel beams from Elgin site

THE THEFT OF metal from a business in the Chanonry Road South area of Elgin has sparked a police investigation and public appeal.

At some point between August 28 and September 11 approximately 10tonnes of steel beams were stolen from a commercial premises, possibly over two separate occasions.

Investigating officer PC Catherine Robertson said: “This has been a significant theft of a large quantity of heavy steel which has possibly been taken on two separate occasions.

“The second occasion is thought to have occured between Wednesday 6 September and Friday 8 September 2017 with the first being after Monday 28 August.

“If anyone recalls seeing anything suspicious in the area over the last few weeks I would ask that they contact us with information.”
