Former Moray Councillor reappears at Elgin Sheriff Court

A FORMER MORAY Councillor faces another two-week wait before he can find what if any action is to be taken over alleged child sex charges.

Sean Morton reappeared at Elgin Sheriff Court yesterday facing accusations that he had taken or permitted to be taken indecent or pseudo-photographs of children in 2013.

The former Fochabers/Lhanbryde councillor, whose address is now given as being in Stirling, is also accused of “distributing or showing” such images in June last year.

A further charge relates to participation in social media discussions about child abuse in June last year. He denies all the charges.

In court on Tuesday Morton’s defence agent Laura Greer confirmed that background reports on her client had been prepared by a computer expert. These had been presented to the court – however, the procurator fiscal sought time for the information to be considered by Crown Office experts.

Morton will reappear in court on November 14.
